Hello!

Nice to meet you~ (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ) You can call me Humie (hew-mee) — I’m a self-taught Vietnamese digital artist living in France!

(Heads up: this is a long little story about how I became a freelance artist and Live2D creator… but I hope it’s a cozy read if you’re curious about the journey ♡)

I’ve loved art since I was little — I joined local art clubs, did oil paintings for a year (I love textures!), and fell in love with manga thanks to CLAMP. I still remember sketching my first anime girl after watching my first anime… and that spark never left.

At school, I was that art kid — always volunteering to design the group presentation slides, draw class posters, or join creative school projects. I loved bringing visual ideas to life, even in tiny ways.

In 2018, I had a graphic tablet and tried digital art for the first time, but it felt overwhelming and I gave up after only 2 months.

Then in 2020, lockdown hit. I had just bought an iPad for university note-taking — but with everything shut down, I thought… maybe I could try drawing digitally again? And that’s how it all started: an iPad, a global lockdown, boredom, and a dream to draw more.

To my surprise, I fell in love with digital art this time. The compact tools, flexibility, and clean workspace — it just clicked. I started posting my art online and joined fun art challenges. I was constantly inspired by artists online. Their textures, colors, storytelling — it amazed me. I wanted my art to feel like that too: rich, personal, painterly, full of life. I began experimenting more, adding fun colors, textures, expressive shapes…

With no job during lockdown, I opened commissions and officially became a freelance artist. I always dreamed of working in art somehow — maybe architecture? graphic design? fashion? (Architecture may be too hard, lol.) I never really believed I could make it… but I gave it my all. The early years were tough — long hours, low pay — but I kept going, growing and slowly found my place in the community.

I still remember being mesmerized by animated illustrations — those tiny looped motions that made still images feel like they were breathing. That’s when I started wondering… what if my art could move too? Then in 2022, I discovered Live2D and the world of VTubers. A 2D illustration… that moves? With face tracking?! Mind. Blown. I saw my online art friends create their own models, and thought: “If they can do it… why not me?”

It wasn’t easy. Live2D model art and rigging is a whole new world — cutting, organizing, movement and perspective logic… At first, I was just proud to cut my first model! Then I opened Live2D and realized I had to redo everything. I struggled for two and a half years — restarting, learning from trial and error, digging for good tutorials, and facing lots of self-doubt. But I always came back to it.

The models I made back in 2022? They don’t come close to what I can do now — and I’m proud of that.

Now, I’m so grateful to create custom VTuber models, stream assets, and illustrations with a soft, painterly touch— for amazing clients who trust me with their precious characters. I always do my best to bring each vision to life with care, creativity, and a deep commitment to quality and satisfaction.

In 2023, I streamed as Humie for the first time with just a PNG. In 2024, I finished my first chibi model (January), and debuted with my full model (September) — both fully drawn and rigged by me.

⚙️ Why a cyborg persona? Well… I draw so much digitally, I kinda fused with my tools~ hehe (read my lore here)

🎙️ I stream my art process on Twitch — so my clients (and anyone curious!) can watch the magic unfold live.

Streaming keeps me motivated, consistent with my art, and connected to my sweet little community: the Hoomies! I might go quiet when I’m laser-focused, but I love chatting about art, creativity, and becoming our best selves together.

🦾 Goals & Aspirations

I want to keep growing as an artist — mastering challenging technical illustration skills, deepening my Live2D rigging expertise, and exploring new creative branches like branding, graphic design, and maybe even 3D someday. I’d also love to return to traditional art and painting, reconnecting with the textures and feelings that first made me fall in love with creating.

My biggest dream? To bring high-quality VTuber models to life — designs so unique and soulful that people immediately recognize: “That’s made by THE Humie for sure!!”

More than anything, I hope to inspire other artists and VTubers to take that first brave step into their creative journey — and to keep going, no matter how hard it gets.

Thank you for reading my long story hehe~

Let’s keep creating & have fun together~! ★

Humie Lore 1.0

Humie is an artist who was once human. After countless hours of digital drawing, she gradually transformed into a cyborg, seamlessly integrating mechanical elements into her mind and hands. This ability allows her to incorporate any details she wants from her artworks into her own body, turning her into a living embodiment of her art. Her limbs are elegantly designed with mechanical joints, resembling the structure of a doll. Each joint offers fluid movement, granting her grace in her gestures and creations. The metallic surfaces shine in the light, while the soft whirring of the mechanisms adds a rhythmic dimension to her motions. As she learns to draw and animate herself, Humie becomes the creator of her own identity. With sharp eyes that perceive colors in a new way, she feels the digital pixels living in her blood, pulsating with every brushstroke.

However, as she immerses herself in her art, she feels a growing disconnect from the outside world. To bridge this gap, she begins streaming her creative process online, hoping to build a community of like-minded individuals. The sweet comments and supportive messages from her viewers brighten her day, bringing her warmth and encouragement. Even simple questions like "How are you?" make her feel cared for, reminding her that she is not alone in her journey. She looks forward to seeing the same usernames popping up in her chat every day, forming a group that shares her passion for art. Each familiar name brings a smile to her face, enriching her streaming experience.

Yet, this connection comes with the pressure to improve her skills, leading to moments of doubt and anxiety about her artistic path. While the feedback inspires her to explore new horizons, the constant pressure can weigh on her creativity, reminding her that her growth is as much about overcoming personal challenges as it is about honing her craft.

Eagerly anticipating her next transformation, Humie desires to discover new facets of herself. With each creation and interaction, she embarks on a quest for self-discovery, ready to deepen her connections and develop her skills. Where will this journey take her? Will her ever-changing tastes lead her to new heights? Humie's story has only just begun...
